Tips and Tricks to get the very best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Coral Palms Cottage, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
