Tips for getting the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. To find the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the perfectrental:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Four bedroom home and short walk to the beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
