How to book the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Hear and See the Sound of the Sea has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
