New Bern rental property booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lovely 1 BR with King bed Apt 3 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
