Getting the best rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Crystal Coast trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing the right Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Select vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. NCBEACHBUMZ 5 Min walk to beach and sound access. Public parking beach entrance has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
