Strategies to get the optimal Crystal Coast vacation property experience:

Finding the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose and book the perfectrental home:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront cottage; clean, modern, and close!! Play, rest, restore... has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Call the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
