Tricks and tips to get the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Crystal Coast attractions and restaurants.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking yourvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Highsmith Cottage (Oceanfront Home) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast attraction you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
