Strategies for getting the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Page One, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
