How to book the best New Bern vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in the Crystal Coast area. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the perfectrental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Sea Turtle Cottage - walk to everything! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
