How to find the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Summertime is high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and choosing the rightrental:

  • Choose vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Updated Guest House in Beaufort Historic District--Walkable to Front Street! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
