Tricks and tips to get the best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

When to book a Crystal Coast rental & When to go:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, try changing your family's Crystal Coast vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. The Hideaway Suite** has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
