Rental home tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 3BR Duplex - Dogs OK! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
