Tips to get the best Crystal Coast rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Crystal Coast area. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Crystal Coast vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4BR Home at the Point! 2nd Row from beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
