Tips for getting the perfect Crystal Coast vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best rental in Emerald Isle:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Dark and Stormy, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
