Strategies for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Dolphin View East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
