Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by having your group decide on dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Dune Alright, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your agreement.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
