How to find the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Crystal Coast area. Book your Crystal Coast rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Ocean Reef 4-B2, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
