Tips and Tricks to get the best Crystal Coast rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • To book the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the best Crystal Coast rental:

  • Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Relax and Recharge at This Spacious 4-Bedroom Beachside Retreat! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
