Getting the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the perfect rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. OCEANFRONT home with breathtaking views, East - Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
