Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Pet Friendly, Ocean Front, ONE LEVEL! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
