Strategies to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your family's Crystal Coast trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose the best rental home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • First, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Blue Water D105; Oceanview condo, Atlantic Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
