Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Summer is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Booking in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sound & Seadogs Great Stay Middle Row! EI Bungalow 1 Min. Walk to Beach & Sound! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast destination you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. text the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
