Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group select vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Island Beach Racquet Club 303A, Oceanfront Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
