Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking yourrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Light-filled condo with 3-level deck, Ping-Pong & beach around the corner has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
