Rental home booking tips:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. SeaSpray 230, Oceanview Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
