How to find the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. SeaSpray 245, Oceanfront Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
