Finding the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Crystal Coast area. To find the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose and book the best Crystal Coast rental:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Serene beach house facing Bogue Sound & only a 10 minute walk to ocean beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
