Tips to get the best rental home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and choose the right Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Select your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Surf Capsule suite - coastal retreat in iconic Atlantic Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
