Our top Crystal Coast rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a budget:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best rental home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Start by having your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Blue Bungalow, Soundside House in Pine Knoll Shores in NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast attraction you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
