Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

When to reserve a Crystal Coast rental & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and choosing yourvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Great Ocean & Pool Views! 2 Bed 2 Bath Luxury Condo Sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.

Have a great stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
