Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. New modern farmhouse with large porches, king beds, game room, accessible has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
