Booking the best vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Crystal Coast area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the right Crystal Coast rental home:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sound Of The Sea North 205, Oceanview Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast attraction you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
