Strategies to get the perfect Emerald Isle rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking your prefectrental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Dune It Whale, Oceanfront House In Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
