How to book the best vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Crystal Coast vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group commit to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Large 3 bedroom townhome with cable and internet has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
