Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Crystal Coast area. To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking yourvacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Coastal Retreat w/ Boat Parking and Large Private Backyard has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
