On the second floor are three thematically decorated bedrooms with a shared bath, an refreshed, well-equipped kitchen and an open living-dining room. The third floor is furnished with an eclectic mix of mid-century modern and vintage campaign furnishings, family memorabilia, richly colored textiles and art objects from around the world.

Visitors have use of a laundry room, indoor and outdoor games, bicycles, a
charcoal grille, beach chairs and floats, making the Exum beach bungalow ideal for a family vacation. Or the newly updated master suite, with a coffee and wine bar, a surround-sound stereo system and cavernous bath, is the ideal setting for a charming get-away.

Tricks and tips to get the very best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing and booking your prefectvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Exum Cottage - Beachfront in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. text the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
