How to book the best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Make a plan and choose the perfectrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Sea Glass- Walking Distance to Front Street and it's Pet Friendly! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
